We are an older couple with a boy age 8, and a girl age 5. We are thinking about moving to WI. My dh would like to know what type of jobs there are. He is presently working for a manufacturer of small engines, as a machine operator. I would like to know about the schools, the best place to raise our children, and the average cost to rent a 3 br house.

there are plenty of jobs for those who have good references and resume. The best schools are really in de pere and wrightstown the best advantage to live is near wrightstown if you locate near hwy 41 you are only 15 min to appleton or green bay. Rent for a real nice town house type three bedroom sells for about 175,00 and rents for 700-1000 per month but there afre plenty of great buys as you move out of town. Do not let anyone talk you into downtown greenbay most parts of old green bay are no place to raise an 8 and 5 year old. Another site that may help you might be depereonline.com. they update fairly regular and respond to spacific questions i have had in the past fairly quickly. I just went to the contact us tab. I do know my daughter loves this area and the average age of the residents in wrightstown is about 40 any way hope that this helps.

I live in Rothschild, which is located just south of Wausau. The DC Everest school district has been rated one of the top districts in Wisconsin. The students scored above average in all areas too. Yes we aren't a "big city" but we do have community theatre and the Grand brings in top shows throughout the year. We have a Tech school and a 2 yr UW college here too plus just 30 miles away in St. Point in the "big" college of UW St Point. This is a diverse area with a growing ethnic population. There are 2 large hospitals that provide nationally recognized health care too. There are numerous activities for kids too; youth soccer, youth hockey, youth baseball and basketball. There are two nice pools in Rothschild/Schofield/Weston to use in the summer plus there are numerous parks to enjoy. No we don't have sky scrapers but we do have a nice downtown Wausau area and in the summer the 400 block (large open area) has many free events going on for families such as music on Wed. evenings and special events on Tues mornings. If you would like information on renting check out Wausaudailyherald.com for more information. There are many homes to rent in the area and many have nice yards for children too. Hope this helps

There are very few good paying jobs here. I'd stay away, stay far away or you'll get trapped. If you must move to Wisconsin then move to the Eastern side of the state near Madison and Milwaukee because all the good tech companies are there. Chippewa Falls and Eau Claire have NOTHING to offer. If you move to this area you'll get stuck and never be able to leave.

My family currentlly lives in the Schofield area. We are very happy with this part of Wisconsin. The DC Everest School District certainly provides the most attention to each student individually. Our daughter benefited from the staff where others in the Illinois systems failed her brothers. That is why we chose this area and this district! I am also a Realtor. I am working out of the offices of Coldwell Banker Action in Schofield. If you are searching to purchase a home I would be more that happy to assist you in your real estate matters.

There are lots of things to do in the area. I could list some, but you should check out foxcities.org. They have a brochure for visitors that lists museum, Barlow Planetarium in Menasha, and lots more.
